How to Lose Weight Fast

People have all these fancy ideas about how fast they can lose weight when they join a gym. While all people have different goals when it comes to that, I think many of the people get too ambitious. I began gaining weight after I started my job as a stay-at-home mom and I would weigh myself when I wanted to buy my daughter things. I wanted to look as good as possible for my daughter’s birthdays, but I was too scared to actually do it. I knew my mom would understand, so when I was bored one night, I decided to visit the gym.


During my first workout, I was terrified because I had never done anything like this before. After walking in with my knees that were too swollen from exercising with the toddler, I knew I had to skip the second workout. I told my husband, “I’m not brave enough for this,” so he picked me up and drove me home. I slept like a baby that night and I lay in bed the entire morning wondering what to do next. I went to my table in the living room, grabbed two rice and beans from the fridge, filled a bowl with water, and rolled up my jean pajamas to reduce stretching. When I awoke to roll over again, I made myself comfortable in my desk chair. I even had a cup of tea for my workout.


After breakfast, I walked out the door and down the stairs with the same tea. I took the milk and cookies from the fridge and straight down the stairs, and walked up the stairs to the shower. I realized I had more excuses than motivation, so I put the milk and cookies down in the kitchen and filled the kitchen with the cereal my daughter likes. It was just enough to not be cold while I worked out. With more juices and milk, I soon finished off the supermarket salads from Starbucks. I asked to buy an extra bag of applesauce from the store, so I found the wine coolers, and then I did some more exercising. I finally went back to the kitchen and made myself comfortable. I put my clothes back on and I got into the shower.


I left the bathroom and went through the door and told my husband I was ready to go to the gym. I had picked my yoga mat so that when I got to the trainer, I could be undressed properly. I checked off my items on the list for that night, including my shoes, and now I headed over to the workout room.


When I walked into the gym, the trainer was running to the stage with her headphones in. She brought her chair to the trainer and started working out. As the trainer worked out, she approached me and I looked up from my watch to see what was going on. I looked over at her and said with shock, “Just moved,” and she said, “I had an appointment.” I wasn’t shocked, but I didn’t know how to say that! The first thing I did was find the bar where I was going to work out. After walking through the door, I walked right to the bar. I started reading the bar, saying that it had been at the same place since I was in college, but the music was different. I reached up and grabbed a pack of peanut butter and jelly from the refrigerator and I started eating that. Then I grabbed a container of water with nothing on it, and started drinking it. It seems like everyone has a certain way of drinking water. I just drink water as it tastes.


The trainer laughed and said, “I know you are not naturally drinking very much water,” and asked me to look over to the counting machine. I went right to the machine and on my right hand I was asked to use their water, and I thanked the trainer and shook their hand. Then I walked up to the front of the trainer. I asked her where her next class would be. She looked at me, and asked, “Do you have a cocktail?” I didn’t reply with a negative answer, so the trainer smiled and said, “That’s okay, we’ll get you through the first six weeks of your program.” The trainer later told me that her group does smaller classes that fit on the first few minutes of class, so I thought if I joined the large class, I could do a lot. I then requested a small group that started at 6:30pm and continued for around 30 minutes, so we signed my permanent commitment. After I signed my commitment, I went back to my workout, and while I was working out, I said to myself, “Hope the biggest excuse isn’t there.” With the song playing, I walked back to the trainer to thank her and paid for the class.
